I just checked and the 04-08 rx8s are at a limit near 300 whp because of the transmission, the 09-11 have a stronger transmission but nobody really tunes them yet so not a lot of newer rx8s with FI out there. So yea you would have to probably do quite a bit of work to the trans.

V8′s are great. never owned a car with a v8 myself but I have rode in a few and they are fun, gotta love the sound of them. The 4 rotor is just amazing to listen to, just to damn expensive.

@xex2kok So essentially to build up an RX8, one would have to revamp the entire powertrain. Eh, if it were me and I were given an RX8, I’d just do some bolt ons, and uprate the suspension and enjoy it as is.

Like I said, I’m more of a V8 guy. I certainly like those old 4 rotor LeMans motors though… OMG talk about aural heaven..

The old 13b’s do seem to do better with boost, because they were made with that in mind. I know you can hit 300 to 350+ hp off some base kits you can buy for the stock renesis engine. Thats a far cry from what this rx8 is making but I bet with some porting of the engine you could see some very good results in a renesis with boost. The transmission cannot really hold up well past the 300-350 whp point though lol.
