Same can be done with a go cart. A proper drift? No really. But with normal tires it would drift in a proper way, so the car is capable. You need grippy tyres to drift properly. To have any speed going sideways you need rear end grip. Hence why pretty much every D1gp, FD, BDC, EDC drift car runs as wide and as good as tyres as possible. I guess the sub strap was ignored or absent? The other rookie mistake is to leave the passenger belts loose -- they should be zip-tied so they don't.
