Nissan 240 SX Drifting
The Nissan 240SX is considered by many to be the ultimate drifting machine for the automotive enthusiast. The 240sx was produced from the late 80s into the late 90s with several models. Always remaining a 2 door coupe the Nissan 240sx was always affordable as well. Starting in Japan many aftermarket car parts companies began mass producing performance parts for the little hot coupe and many buyers took notice.
Now the Nissan 240sx has nearly the strongest aftermarket support over nearly any other model. There are many things available from wheels, body kits, suspension parts, spoilers, performance parts, and gauges. Called the 240sx because of the 2.4L four cylinder engine that powers it. The Nissan 240sx is also considered an awesome drift car because of its rear wheel drive platform.
There have been 2 generations of the Nissan 240SX. The first generation was produced from 1989 to 1994. There were two distinct models produced from this time. The first was the “Zenki” model which has been called the “pig nose” model by US owners and the second was the “Chuki” model which has minor body work upgrades as well as a slightly more powerful KA24DE engine.
The second generation of the Nissan 240 SX known as the S14 arrived. This model came only in the coupe version and the pop up headlights were removed from the body as well. Other than body work, the S14 was nearly mechincally identical to the first generation S13 car. In late 1997 Nissan upgraded the exterior looks one more time and gave the S14 more aggressive projector beam headlights and minor body work upgrades. This model became quite popular however limited production numbers have made them hard to find.
These cars caught on with drifters from the get go because of the widely available aftermarket modifications that one can install on them. If you’re at any drifting event worldwide you can be sure that there will at least be one or two Nissan 240SX’s in attendance.
