In 5th place is The Fast & the Furious Franchise…while the Fast & Furious films aren’t by any stretch Oscar worthy movies, the one thing they have down are CARS! While the chase isn’t really the point of these supped up car flicks, they definitely have the need for speed & the cool cars to match! Coming in 4th place is the matrix reloaded…again not all about the chase, but we all know that infamous freeway chase that had us all on the edge of our sets during the Keanu reeves fueled movie. The Italian Job takes over the 3rd place spot in our countdown. The 2003 heist centered flick starred Donald Sutherland, Mark Wahlberg and Edward Norton & definitely earned its spot in our top 3 best car chases. Coming ina VERY CLOSE 2nd place is bullitt…anyone who loves car, car chases, and good movies has seen bullitt. The 1968 released classic is about An all guts, no glory San Francisco cop who becomes determined to find the underworld kingpin that killed the witness in his protection. And in first place is one of my personal favs, car chase or not… FRENCH CONNECTION!An oldie, but a goodie, the flick released in 1971 is about A pair of NYC …
The world famous car chase in Bullit backed up by On the Road Again by Canned Heat. Film and record released in 1998. High profile San Francisco Police Lieutenant Frank Bullitt is asked personally by ambitious Walter Chalmers, who is in town to hold a US Senate subcommittee hearing on organized crime, to guard Johnny Ross, a Chicago based mobster who is about to turn evidence against the organization at the hearing. Chalmers wants Ross’ safety at all cost, or else Bullitt will pay the consequences. Bullitt and his team of Sergeant Delgetti and Detective Carl Stanton have Ross in protective custody for 48 hours over the weekend until Ross provides his testimony that upcoming Monday. Bullitt’s immediate superior, Captain Bennet, gives Bullitt full authority to lead the case, no questions asked for any move Bullitt makes. When an incident occurs early during their watch, Bullitt is certain that Ross and/or Chalmers are not telling them the full story to protect Ross properly.
