Drifting Techniques, Theory: A tyre grips the road up to a maximum point of adhesion, when this point is exceeded the tyre will start to slide until adhesion is restored. So finding and pushing just beyond the point of adhesion is the name of the game. Once a car begins to drift driver control comes into play the exact amount of turn on the steering wheel towards the direction of travel to catch and control the drift. At precisely the right moment you have to catch the drift with a measure of opposite lock and use the throttle and steering to control the drift a sustained drift on a straight is called drift lock. Rear wheel drive cars are the only choice for drifting particularly higher-powered models but one of the key requirements is a limited slip diff. We’ve seen really impressive drifts from low powered cars. A quick burst of acceleration at the right moment is just enough to break the adhesion of the back of the car. As a car decelerates the weight is thrown to the front wheels that is why the wheels lock up under heavy breaking. A front wheel drive car is harder to drift in but uses deceleration to lighten the back of the car and make it swing wide. To perform a left tail drift in a front drive car build up the speed. Decelerate fairly heavily but performing a simultaneous right flick on the steering wheel a shock wave will shoot through the car (you can feel it happen there is no easy way to explain it.) As this shock wave passes the centre point of the car steer …

Left-foot braking is a technique that you can use with your front wheel drive car. It will help you during cornering while you are going at high speeds. Left foot braking technique prevents the understeer situation. Driving at high speeds, if you try to turn sharply at a corner, the car won’t behave the right way as you might have thought. Instead it will go in the same direction. Such a situation is called a understeer. Using the left foot braking technique you’ll be providing the car some grip at its front wheels, more than in the rear wheels. This will help you to turn the car the way you wanted.

While you are at the turn, start slowing down the car a bit. Apply the brake using your right foot. Now, you may downshift the car, and for this you may use the heel and toe downshifting method. Once you do that, take your right foot from the brake and place it over the accelerator. Don’t pull of your foot from the accelerator now. Apply brake using your left foot. And you must do both these steps together. These are the things that you should be doing efore using the technique known as letf-foot braking. Now let’s get into left-foot braking.

You may use the method explained above in order to slow down the car as it reached near the turn. Now, as you reach the corner, you may use your right foot to hit the gas and at the same time you should be planning to apply brake using the other foot. What it does is that – it will lock down the rear wheels and now only the front wheels will be moving. This way, the weight of the car will be transferred to the front wheels. Thus, the front wheels would be getting much better grip than earlier. This is what we were trying to achieve at the beginning. Now we are in a situation which is known as oversteering. And now the car will start to oversteer. This is what you have to do, if you are going at high speed and wanna take a sharp turn at the corner.

Handbrake turn is a technique which will allow you to turn your car a sharp 180 degree facing the opposite direction. This is one of the easiest car techniques that I know. But, you need to practice it more often. Then only, you’d be able to do it easily. Usually, we do a three point turn in order to achieve a condition stated above. But using the handbrake turn technique, you’ll be abble to do just that, using a U-turn and it will need just minimal space requirements than the conventional method. So, you may find it a handy, in situations when you are with smaller area for taking the turn.

You may use any car of your choice for doing this. But I would recommend a front wheel drive car. And the speed at which you should start should be like 30-35 mph. And don’t think of making it too low or a lot higher than the given range. Doing so won’t make you turn a sharp 180 degree. Also, there are factors other than the speed limit which decides the turning degree. Well, some of them are the road conditions and the nature and type of the tires of your car.

Well, first of all you need to position one of your hands in the steering wheel at the right place. Well, if you are in a left hand drive car, then the right place to place your left hand should be on the right side of the steering wheel. It will depend on the side to which you wanna turn the car as well. If you are with an automatic transmission car, then put the car to neutral at first. After that make sure that the other hand is placed on the hand brake. Don’t use the handbrake now. It’s not the time to apply the handbrake. Only after you start turning the car, you should think of pulling the handbrake. Now, it’s time to provide acceleration smoothy a bit as discussed earlier, and make if you are in an automatic transmission car, then put the car in neutral. And start rotating the steering wheel to one of the sides as you prefer. Rotate the steering wheel until, it gets locked. After a quick second, apply the e-brake if you have it in your car. Otherwise you may yank the handbrake lever. This will ultimately lock the rear wheels. Now, the car will start to turn and during this time you may bring the steering wheel to the center making the front wheels to curve out straight.

So, what is drag racing? These days it is much popular for the reason that, now even in the streets is being found all over the world. It is a car race tournament, in which just two cars will be participating, in a straigt line covering the same distance in order to win the race. Drag racing depends a lot on lauch, and we’ll trying to explain why it is that important.

Before we go on any further, it is to be noted that you’ have to spend some money for changing the tires, repairing the car and also for modifying it. If you are ready for it, then you’ll be learning to be consistent in driving your car. Well, the way we lauch a manual transmission car and an automatic transmission car is different. The same goes with an all-wheel-drive car, a front-wheel-drive car, and with a rear-wheel-drive car.

If you are with a manual transmission car, then it’s all about applying the throttle at the right levels. Our main aim should be to prevent the excessive spinning of wheels. Different cars are with different rpm levels. So, if you are planning to learn how to launch your are in the quickest time, then you should try holding the throttle at different rpm levels. This way you’ll be knowing the power needed to launch your car the better way. After some experiments with your car, the car would be surely needing some repairs. But, these experiments will surely making you an hard core driver.

A super car is an extreme example of automotive engineering. Also called hyper cars, these automobiles are known for extreme speeds, space age technology, huge engines, killer designs, and enormous price tags. Automakers such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren and Maserati all have produced shining examples of super cars.

Many other automakers have produced super cars as well, like the Acura NSX created by Honda, and some have even claimed the BMW 8 Series to by a super car as well. These cars are generally produced in very low volumes and buyers waiting lists are known to be very long. Most of these cars are already sold before production even begins.

So if you just spend several hundred thousand on a super car what would be your first action? Well of course if you’re an automotive enthusiast you would take that car down to your local racetrack and start drifting like a madman!

Finding videos and pictures of people drifting these extreme examples of cars is quite rare due to the inherent danger in drifting many owners won’t let their cars be drifted, even by professionals. However every now and again an automotive television show will find a generous owner who will let there cars be drifted. These moments are precious indeed, and you can sometimes find great videos and pictures online of these incredible cars being drifted.

Tray drifting is when people put food trays on the rear wheels of front wheel drive cars then slide them around on wet pavement. This can be very fun to both participate in and to watch. So why would people want to put food trays on their cars in the first place?

Well it is a pretty simple explanation. Front wheel drive cars are unable to perform a proper drift because there is no power being directly supplied to the rear wheels. Because most young people who are quite interested in drifting only own hand me down front wheel drive cars they were forced to become creative when wanting to enjoy the sideways fun filled action of performing drifts.

One day somewhere in Japan, some kid figured out that if he could make the rear wheels of his front wheel drive car slide, he could perform some sort of quasi-drift. Thus tray drifting was born. Tray drifting is popular in both Japan and the United States and is gaining in popularity worldwide.

If you’ve never been able to witness a true tray drifting spectacle then you’ve been missing out. If you’re looking to participate in a tray drifting competition you should definitely check out your local automotive forums and hangouts. Due to the not so legal nature of performing tray drifting their locations tend to be underground.

Drifting is a popular motor sport that was created in Japan and has slowly grown to worldwide popularity due to the internet, big production Hollywood movies, and video games. Drifting cars are vehicles specifically made to perform the automotive stunt known as drifting. What is drifting? It is basically a controlled fish tail, where the object is to get as sideways as possible while creating the most smoke and also maintaining a very high rate of speed.

Your average everyday street car could not stand up to the punishment that the act of drifting puts onto cars. Therefore many shops, racing teams, and enthusiasts are creating drifting cars specifically made to perform at these peak levels. Drifting cars must have certain qualities to make them a good contender for the sideways action going on around racing tracks worldwide.

Drivetrain:

Drifting cars must be rear wheel drive or four wheel drive. It is physically impossible for a front wheel drive car to perform a true drift because no power is being driven to the rear wheels. Many front wheel drivers use their emergency brake to perform “powerslides” which resemble drifting but are completely different. A rear wheel drive car is best because constant power to the rear wheels means that the slide can be maintained for longer periods providing you with a more smoky cooler looking display.

Engine Power:

Drifting cars usually have extraordinary levels of power output. The sheer amount of power it takes to over come the tire’s tendency to want to lock up in a wheel slide is incredible. Therefore most drifting cars have either unusually large engines or they use power adders such as turbochargers or superchargers to create massive levels of ground pounding power.

Suspension System And Driveline:

Drifting cars need to have a highly tuned and well balanced suspension system. These cars are usually really low to the ground because a lower center of gravity provides better balance. They also have incredibly large wheels and tires to provide more surface area, and finally drifting cars tend to employ oversized brakes to help bring them to a stop in case of an emergency.

Drifting cars are truly incredible machines capable of some of the most awesome automotive stunt work a man could ever witness. If you consider yourself a car guy then you should definitely check out he drifting scene.
