Gumball 3000 – history
Gumball 3000 was founded in the year 1999. Maximillion Cooper is the person behind the Gumball 3000. Well, Maximillion got inspired from the many Gumball movies of the past. He just thought of making it a real thing and founded the Gumball 3000. The first rally was in the year 1999. In this rally, only 55 participants were there, and all of them were Cooper’s friends. This was actually the start of the Gumball 3000. He was just looking to make a start and thus we didn’t intended others to participate in this rally other than his friends whom he invited. Well, the rally started from London. It was to reach Italy and then come back again to London. So, that’s about the distance of the first ever Gumball 3000. In the first rally, the winner was with Jaguar E-type car which was a 1963 model car.
The second rally was in the year 2000. It was also started from London. Starting from London, they moved to the Stansted Airport. From there, they got lifted to through air to an airport in Spain. From there, the rally began through the public roads. Some of the places through which the rally passed are Bilbao, Milan, Baden-Baden in Germany and Hambug. After getting through these regions they returned to London. In this rally, the founder of the Gumball 3000, was in Bentley Arnage.

In the third rally, there were 106 participants and it was held in the year 2001. In this rally, the founder of the Gumball 3000, was in Shelby Cobra. Well, this rally also started from London. Like the previuos rally, after going through certain pre planned regions, they returned to London. There was live broadcast of the rally on some of the famous TV channels.
In the fourth rally, there were 175 participants. It was held in the year 2002. This rally started from New York and ended in Los Angeles. The participants of the fourth rally passed through a lot of important places such as the White House in Washington DC.
The fifth rally was in the year 2003 and the number of participants were more than 100 in number. The rally started from California and ended successfully at Miami in Florida. The participants were with cars like the Ferrari, Lamborghini, Koenigsegg etc.
The sixth rally was started from Paris near the the Eiffel Tower. It was in the year 2004 and there were 192 participants for this rally. The seventh rally was started from from London. And it was ended in Croatia. Well, this was in the year 2005. This rally also covered 3000 miles starting from London to Croatia. One of the best rally was the rally of 2006. And this is the eigth Gumball 3000 rally. It started from London and finished in Los Angeles. And the it took just 8 days to get finished. The ninth rally was in the year 2007 and this time the rally started from London. More than 100 participants were there in this rally also. The Rally made the contestants to drive through 16 countries and it just took 8 days to get completed.
The most recent and 10th Gumball 3000 Rally was held in 2008. In this rally, the participants should have been with cars in which the carbon emissions were neutralised. This rally started from San Fransisco and ended successfully in Beijing. It was during the time of Beijing Olympic Games of 2008. Well, the fee for participating in the Gumball 3000 rally of 2008 was 120K USD.
