Lightning and Mater watch The Delinquent Road Hazards drift down the road, with Sheriff giving chase and calling them “import punks”. Mater says that he used to be an import. He proceeds to tell the story of how he found himself in Tokyo (after offering to tow home a stranded Japanese car), where he was subsequently challenged to a race by The Drift King (a car resembling Boost, the leader of The Delinquent Road Hazards), the winner of which would be crowned “King of Drifting” and the loser of which would be stripped of all modifications to become “stock”.
