Drifting Mazda RX-7
The Mazda RX-7 is one of the few handful of cars in existence that are powered by the Wankel rotary engine. This engine is completely different from traditional piston driven engines. It has fewer moving parts and is quite small compared to the amount of power it produces. It also gets better gas mileage, and due to its small size it can be positioned towards the middle of the car for near perfect 50/50 weight distrubution which contributes to handling.

All of these factors make the Mazda RX-7 one of the very best drifting machines an automotive enthusiast could hope to ever get his hands on. However due to very limited production numbers by Mazda these cars are quite rare and if you do find one be prepared to pay through the nose for them, especially one of the later models.
The later model RX-7′s come turbocharged with twin turbos and they make nearly 280 HP. However, there are extensive modifications available, and we’ve seen Mazda RX-7′s making nearly 1,000 horsepower. These high output models are powered by triple rotor engines and have multiple turbo chargers for increased power output.
Like mentioned before Mazda RX-7 has near perfect weight distrubution. Coupled with an aggresive low stance and a sport tuned suspension these cars make for awesome drifting machines right out of the factory. If you’re considering modifying them with high performance struts and coil over suspension this car will slide and handle like it is on rails.
In Japan these cars were produced for longer periods than in America so they are far more common there. Also they have even more parts available than are available in the united states as well. A heavily modified Mazda RX-7 appeared in the Hollywood movie “The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift” and there was a red one built for drag racing in the first “Fast And The Furious”
